ELC participates in summer boot camp on modeling of infectious disease

Kyoto University research grant sponsors ELC staff to participate in the Summer Boot Camp on Infectious Disease Modeling, hosted by Kyoto University’s School of Public Health and Graduate School of Medicine between August 1-10, 2024. This opportunity was the first of its kind extended at no-cost to DPHSS.
 
 
 

ELC participates in 2024 Council of State and Territorial (CSTE) Annual Conference

ELC staff participated in 2024 CSTE Annual Conference in June 2024. Patrick Sotto, CSTE Applied Epidemiology Fellow presented poster on “Exploring CRE Epidemiology in Guam and Evaluating the impact of a CP-CRE Outbreak”. ELC Staff gained valuable information on the prevention and response to Influenza and Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) / Antibiotic Resistance (AR) outbreaks.
 
 
 

Guam Public Health Laboratory implements new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

The Guam Public Health Laboratory (GPHL) implemented a new LIMS in June 2024 to manage test ordering, testing and resulting of laboratory tests performed by GPHL. This streamlines the reporting of laboratory results performed by GPHL by providing a web portal for healthcare providers to order and retrieve results.
 
 
 

ELC participates in Peer-To-Peer Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) with Washington State Department of Health

ELC staff participated in PEER-TO-PEER Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) Training organized by the DPHSS/ELC Team and the Washington State Department of Health, supported by the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists and CDC’s Division of Quality Healthcare Promotion (DQHP). Participating healthcare facilities include the Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC), the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA), the Federally Qualified Community Health Centers in the Northern and Southern region and St. Dominic’s Senior Home. Training sessions were conducted by the subject matter experts from the Washington State Department of Health. The Guam and Washington State teams performed onsite tours with participating healthcare facilities to review their processes and identify infection prevention priorities.
